Job Description
Bring your specialized expertise as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to a dynamic educational environment supporting multiple sites throughout the academic year. This contract opportunity begins in early August and runs through late May, offering an impactful chance to provide direct service to students who are blind or visually impaired across a range of grade levels. There's potential to work either on-site or in a virtual capacity, depending on evolving needs.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction in accordance with students’ IEPs, ensuring equitable access to the curriculum.
- Collaborate with general education staff, support personnel, and families to facilitate students’ educational progress.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to identify students’ needs and monitor their achievement.
- Provide guidance and resources on adaptive technology and accessible instructional materials.
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and related professional activities.
- Travel among assigned schools as needed, fostering connections with students and staff throughout the district.
What We’re Looking For:
- Current Standard Arizona Secondary Teaching License.
- Specialized Visually Impaired Special Education certificate or K-12 endorsement.
- IVP fingerprint clearance card (required for consideration).
- Experience with Braille, assistive technology, and accommodations for visually impaired learners.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a K-12 setting is a plus.
