Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Knowledge of best practices and assistive technology for visually impaired students
- Experience creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong collaboration skills for working with families, general education staff, and specialists
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
- Previous school-based or pediatric setting experience is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services tailored to each student’s IEP
- Develop and adapt instructional materials for accessibility
- Assess students’ vision-related educational needs and monitor progress
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student inclusion and success
- Provide guidance and training to staff and families regarding vision support strategies
- Maintain accurate, compliant documentation for all services provided
