Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid California teaching credential with authorization as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students with visual impairments in a K-12 setting
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to partner with teachers, support staff, and families
- Ability to adapt and modify curriculum materials for diverse learning needs
- Comfort with assistive technology and specialized instructional techniques for visually impaired learners
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and educational support for students with visual impairments, individually and in groups
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with educational teams
- Adapt classroom materials and provide recommendations for accessible learning resources and assistive technology
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to foster student independence
- Conduct functional vision assessments to support student programming and accommodation
- Maintain clear documentation of services and student progress
