Job Description
Make an impact supporting students with visual impairments by providing expert instruction and advocacy across multiple educational settings. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to engage with learners throughout the school year, from August 3rd through May 21st. In this role, you will play a vital part in fostering academic and personal growth by adapting curriculum and creating accessible learning environments.
This position involves primarily onsite work, with potential for virtual support as needed. You'll collaborate with school teams and families to ensure each student receives personalized education customized to their needs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Standard Arizona Secondary Teaching License (required)
- K-12 Certificate or endorsement in Special Education: Visually Impaired (required)
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Card (required)
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or similar role
- Strong understanding of accessible curriculum adaptation and assistive technologies
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Adapt curricular materials and utilize assistive technology tools to support student access and engagement
- Provide direct instruction to students in alignment with their unique learning needs
- Consult with classroom teachers and staff to equip them with strategies and resources for inclusion
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate progress to families and educational partners
- Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring they have the tools and support necessary to succeed
