As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you’ll play an essential part in enriching the educational journey of students from Pre-K through transition age. In this contract opportunity, you’ll take the lead not only in direct instruction but also in empowering staff, families, and students by sharing your expertise in best practices. Your mentorship and coaching will be crucial in bringing out the best in new and returning colleagues, as you advocate for resources and problem-solve to ensure optimal support for all.
What We Seek:
- Active Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with the appropriate visual impairment endorsement
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in a school-based environment
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and train staff
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities
- Completion of required fingerprinting prior to start
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct vision-related services to a diverse student population
- Collaborate with families, educators, and related service providers
- Facilitate access to resources, assistive technology, and individualized learning strategies
- Serve as a leader within the Vision Related Services Department, guiding best practices and supporting professional growth
- Travel between multiple schools within the district as part of an itinerant team
