Job Description
Step into a fulfilling, contract role supporting high school students as an Occupational Therapist for the full academic year. You'll work in a dynamic high school environment, serving grades 9–12, with a focus on students who have complex needs. With a caseload of approximately 18 students, this role offers the opportunity to build meaningful connections and make a lasting difference in young lives.
Your schedule runs from 7:30am to 3:00pm and includes a guaranteed 7.5-hour workday with a designated lunch break. This position in the Vernon Hills area allows you to apply your expertise in both individual and small group settings, collaborating closely with teachers and support staff.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational Therapist license for Illinois
- Previous experience working in a school-based OT setting, preferably with high school students
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and adaptations for complex student needs
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to therapy
Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to 9th–12th grade students, focusing on functional, social, and academic success
- Conduct assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and monitor student progress
- Maintain thorough documentation in accordance with school and state guidelines
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational goals
- Provide strategies and resources to staff and families to ensure student growth and independence
Compensation for this role begins at $43 per hour, with potential increases based on experience.
