The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized, high-acuity care to infants, children, and adolescents experiencing critical or life-threatening illnesses and injuries. PICU RNs play a vital role in monitoring complex patient conditions, administering treatments, collaborating with multidisciplinary care teams, and supporting patients and families throughout the care journey.


Position Details

  • Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Shift: 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)


Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients.
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, including cardiac, respiratory, and neurological status.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies as ordered.
  • Operate and monitor specialized critical care equipment, including ventilators and cardiac monitoring devices.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans.
  • Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
  • Educate and support patients' families throughout treatment and recovery.


Qualifications

  • Active RN license in applicable state.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of recent PICU experience required.
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required.
  • Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
