Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A rewarding opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist to support Long Term Care (LTC) and Mail Order pharmacy operations in a dynamic healthcare environment. This 13-week contract role offers variable shifts from Monday to Sunday, with schedules ranging between 9:30 AM and 8:30 PM to meet patient care needs effectively.
Location: Andover, MN
Schedule:
- Weekdays (M-F): 9:30 AM–6:00 PM / 10:00 AM–6:30 PM / 11:00 AM–8:30 PM (varying weekly)
- Weekends (Sat-Sun): 10:00 AM–6:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
- Monitor patient medication usage and compliance to identify potential overuse or issues.
- Verify appropriateness of prescribed medicines and maintain detailed, confidential patient records.
- Provide patient education on medication usage, possible side effects, and answer any questions.
- Offer consultations on prescription and non-prescription drugs, including dosage, storage, side effects, and interactions.
- Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management.
- Assist with education on medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following strict procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to maintain smooth operations.
- Manage pharmaceutical inventory and collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree is required.
- Licensed to practice pharmacy in Minnesota.
- Experience in Long Term Care pharmacy is highly desirable.
- IV compounding skills are a plus but not mandatory.
