Embark on a rewarding opportunity supporting students on the Southeast Texas Coast as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. Work part-time, approximately 20 hours per week, with a start date of August 3rd, 2026 and end date of May 28th, 2027.

Your specialized skills will empower students with visual impairments to achieve greater independence and success in and out of the classroom. Specific caseload details and school assignments will be finalized soon, and you’ll play a vital role in shaping comprehensive orientation and mobility programs within the district.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification
  • AVCREP Certification or equivalent credential
  • Prior experience in school settings preferred
  • Familiarity working with a diverse student age range is advantageous
  • Must complete Texas fingerprinting requirements promptly if not already cleared

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess student needs and develop individualized mobility plans
  • Deliver direct instructional services both indoors and outdoors
  • Consult and collaborate with educators, families, and support staff
  • Adapt lesson plans to a range of developmental and functional levels
  • Maintain clear documentation and reports as required by district standards
  • Guide staff in best practices and compliance with safety protocols
