Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Active LPN, LVN, or RN license, valid in the state of Michigan
- Previous experience as a school nurse or in a pediatric nursing setting
- CPR and First Aid certification required
- Strong assessment and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and external healthcare providers
- Familiarity with managing chronic health conditions, medication administration, and emergency response in a school setting
- Comfort with documentation and record-keeping in compliance with privacy laws (FERPA, HIPAA)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care and first aid to students and staff during the school day
- Develop and manage individualized health care plans for students with acute or chronic conditions
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments with diligence and accuracy
- Conduct health screenings, maintain immunization records, and monitor communicable disease outbreaks
- Educate students, families, and staff on health promotion and disease prevention
- Serve as a resource and advocate for student health needs within the school community
- Respond promptly to health emergencies and participate in crisis management protocols
