Qualifications & Experience:

• National or state certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings preferred

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and fostering inclusion
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to support students with varying needs and abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers effectively
• Adapt interpretation methods as needed to support student understanding
• Support teachers and staff in understanding Deaf culture and effective communication strategies
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting assignments and daily activities
