Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students for the upcoming school year! Multiple paraprofessional positions are expected to open across a variety of settings, spanning elementary, middle, and high schools in the Kansas City area. Assignments include both 1:1 and general classroom support within special education environments, so adaptability and compassion are key.
Ideal candidates are enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of students, comfortable assisting with toileting and personal care, and experienced in working with diverse behaviors. Flexibility with school assignments is important, as needs will be determined in August; please indicate if you have any grade level or classroom preferences.
Qualifications:
- Current Substitute Certificate listed as active on the DESE website, or passing scores on the ParaPro Exam with transcripts on file
- Experience providing support to students in special education settings, including behavioral support and personal care
- Ability to float throughout the district as placements are assigned
- Comfortable collaborating with teachers, staff, and families
- Previous experience across multiple grade levels is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Support individual students or classrooms with daily academic, behavioral, and personal care needs
- Assist with toileting, changing, and physical management, as necessary
- Implement teacher and therapist recommendations to support student engagement
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment focused on student success
- Respond proactively to student behaviors using established protocols
Compensation for these contract roles is $20 per hour.
