Retail Retail Staff Pharmacist in La Luz, NM
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A retail pharmacist opportunity is available at a community grocery store pharmacy located in Alamogordo, New Mexico, with occasional shifts at a secondary retail location nearby. This direct hire position offers a travel contract assignment for a duration of 13 weeks or longer, with flexibility for shorter contracts to be considered.
Schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Closed weekends and six major holidays at the primary location
- Occasional weekend coverage may be required at the secondary retail location
Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders in compliance with protocols
- Maintain precise patient medication profiles
- Supervise and direct pharmacy technician staff, verifying daily activities
- Participate in medical emergency response efforts as part of the pharmacy team
- Inspect medication storage areas to identify and remove outdated medications
- Provide orientation and training for new team members
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols throughout pharmacy operations
Desired Qualifications:
- Active New Mexico Pharmacist License in good standing, or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Minimum of one year experience as a registered pharmacist preferred
- APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification, or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Strong skills in patient counseling and medication dispensing
- Experience supervising and directing pharmacy technicians
- Comfortable working in community retail pharmacy settings and adaptable to multiple locations
- Availability for occasional weekend shifts at secondary location
This role offers a direct client relationship without vendor management systems (VMS) involvement. Support is provided for obtaining New Mexico licensure as needed. The position includes travel stipends covering housing, meals, and travel expenses.
