Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate.
  • Meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements, or show willingness to fulfill these requirements within specified timeframes.
  • Hold, or be eligible for, all necessary certification and licensure for Deaf/Hard of Hearing teaching roles in Alabama.
  • Previous experience with students who are deaf or hard of hearing is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues, students, and families to promote an inclusive and accessible classroom.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver individualized and small group instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum and teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to enhance the learning experience and accessibility.
  • Advocate for students’ needs and promote a supportive, inclusive environment.
  • Participate in IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
  • Communicate effectively with families and caregivers to foster partnership and understanding.
