The school community is eager to welcome a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) with Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) credentials to provide seamless instruction and support for visually impaired students.

Your role will ensure continuity, accessibility, and empowerment throughout the educational journey. Collaborate with dedicated educators and families while using your skills to help students reach their fullest potential.

Qualifications & Experience Sought:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) credentials required
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to quickly adapt and effectively manage transitions in staffing

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction in braille, assistive technology, and compensatory skills both individually and in small groups
  • Conduct orientation and mobility assessments and training to foster independence
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to provide adaptations and support inclusive learning environments
  • Consult with families to discuss progress, share resources, and advocate for student needs
  • Maintain up-to-date records, contribute to team meetings, and support compliance with guidelines and IEP goals
