Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification to teach students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Experience designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Proficiency with various communication modes, including American Sign Language (ASL), oral, and/or total communication
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and amplification systems
- Ability to work closely with general education staff, families, and related service providers
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility and creativity in adapting curriculum and teaching methods to diverse needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a variety of educational settings
- Assess and document students’ progress, adapting goals and strategies to optimize learning
- Facilitate accessibility to the core curriculum by developing materials, utilizing appropriate technology, and providing language support
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and modifications
- Provide training or resources for school staff and families to support the student’s communication and learning
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and ongoing professional development
- Foster an inclusive, supportive environment that encourages confidence and independence
