Step into a dynamic contract opportunity supporting preschool students with speech and language needs in a school-based setting near Paterson, NJ. This position focuses on providing specialized speech and language services to a growing list of Pre-K students—currently 35, with more anticipated through Early Intervention referrals. You’ll have the chance to make a tangible impact as you evaluate, treat, and support young learners in close collaboration with educational teams.

Your expertise will be crucial in handling a varied caseload, participating in IEP meetings, and implementing both traditional and augmentative communication strategies. The assignment is connected to a maternity leave of absence, expected to continue until at least November and possibly beyond.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is mandatory
  • State licensure in Speech-Language Pathology (or eligibility to obtain before start)
  • Prior experience in school settings, specifically with Pre-K or pediatric populations
  • Knowledge of and experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices highly preferred
  • Comfort managing individual caseloads and conducting comprehensive speech/language evaluations
  • Familiarity with IEP development, process, and participation in team meetings
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct individual speech and language therapy to Pre-K students
  • Complete thorough evaluations and progress reports
  • Recommend, implement, and monitor AAC device use as needed
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student goals
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings and contribute to team planning
