Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Lead pharmacy operations as Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge at a specialized behavioral health hospital located in New Lenox, IL. This contract role requires oversight of pharmacy services with a focus on staffing, scheduling, and maintaining efficient pharmacy functioning within a psychiatric care setting. The position offers an excellent opportunity for a licensed pharmacist with hospital and management experience to apply leadership skills in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct day-to-day pharmacy operations to ensure safe, effective medication use.
  • Manage staffing and scheduling for pharmacy personnel including one part-time pharmacist and pharmacy technician.
  • Oversee order entry and medication distribution systems; training provided for order entry system with preference for Omnicell experience.
  • Maintain clear communication through regular emails and monthly one-on-one meetings with management.
  • Conduct meetings and provide updates on pharmacy status and performance.
  • Apply basic financial knowledge to support pharmacy budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Serve as pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) with responsibility for regulatory compliance and quality standards.
  • Support off-hour pharmacy needs via on-call availability Monday through Friday, with weekend coverage by part-time pharmacist.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois pharmacist licensure required.
  • Minimum 3 years of pharmacy management experience preferred.
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy essential, psychiatric or behavioral health experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with Omnicell automation preferred; training available for order entry system.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle basic financial aspects of pharmacy operations.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
  • On-call coverage 7 days per week.
  • Weekend coverage handled by part-time pharmacist.
