A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) instruction. In this contract role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting students with hearing impairments, working collaboratively with staff and the broader school community. As a valued part of an inclusive educational program, you’ll ensure all students reach their fullest potential by providing specialized instruction and advocacy.

Qualifications & Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Current Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
  • Specialized licensure for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction as required by the State of Alabama
  • Meets Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state teaching requirements, or willingness to accomplish these within the established timeline
  • Prior experience or deep understanding of DHH instructional methodologies strongly preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality educational services to DHH students, adapting instructional strategies to individual student needs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote successful inclusion
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) and maintain essential records
  • Utilize assistive technology and resources appropriate for the DHH student population
  • Advocate for and support students’ social and academic growth in an inclusive setting
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and professional development activities
  • Engage in the screening and onboarding process, working alongside another professional currently serving in this capacity
