Empower students to reach their fullest potential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a contract position supporting a diverse group of learners. This flexible, part-time opportunity spans the full academic year and offers meaningful interactions with a manageable caseload of around 20 students, all while allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance with a 15-hour weekly commitment.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments preferred
- Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible curriculum adaptation
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and school personnel
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Your Impact and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Partner with classroom teachers and staff to adapt class materials and create accessible resources
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Advocate for student access across educational settings and support skill development in areas such as orientation, mobility, and assistive technology
- Communicate regularly with families and support teams to ensure cohesive support
