This unique position involves working 1:1 with a middle school student with severe autism and high needs, making a meaningful impact every single day. Additionally, you will guide an Educational Assistant, enhancing your leadership capabilities and expanding your resume with specialized, hands-on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or equivalent required
  • State licensure as a School Social Worker (or eligibility for NM certification)
  • Experience in school settings and/or healthcare social work preferred
  • Prior work with students on the autism spectrum, especially those with severe needs
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct, individualized social work support to a middle school student with severe autism
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, and families
  • Guide and support an Educational Assistant in daily activities
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and compliance with school procedures
  • Participate in team meetings, providing insight and advocacy for the student
