Key Qualifications:
- Valid California credential as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
- Previous experience working with visually impaired children in an educational setting
- Proficiency in adapting core curriculum and materials for vision accessibility
- Strong communication skills for effective partnering with students, staff, and parents
- Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, using adaptive methods and materials
- Consult with classroom teachers and teams to support appropriate accommodations
- Contribute to IEP process, providing input and evaluations for visually impaired students
- Stay current with best practices and innovative technology to support student learning
- Advocate for student independence, inclusion, and access to all educational activities
