Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid teaching certification for Visual Impairments (TVI)
  • Experience delivering instruction and accommodations to students with visual impairments in school settings
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with teachers, families, and educational teams
  • Ability to develop and adapt educational materials to meet individual student needs
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility concepts preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess student needs and develop individualized educational plans
  • Provide direct and consultative TVI services in accordance with IEPs
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional methods for visual accessibility
  • Collaborate and consult with classroom teachers, support staff, and parents
  • Offer guidance on selecting and using assistive technology for students
  • Track progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Support the school community in understanding strategies to foster accessibility and inclusion
