Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A leadership opportunity is available for an experienced pharmacy professional to serve as Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge at a behavioral hospital specializing in psychiatric care. This contract role demands a dedicated and organized individual to oversee pharmacy operations and maintain smooth functionality until a permanent pharmacist is hired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage pharmacy staffing, scheduling, and daily pharmacy activities
  • Serve as primary Pharmacist-in-Charge ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Maintain proper use of Omnicell automation system and order entry processes (training provided)
  • Support communication and reporting through emails and regular one-on-one meetings with the account manager
  • Oversee a small team including one part-time pharmacist and one technician focusing on restocking and support
  • Participate in relevant meetings and uphold business/office casual dress standards

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Licensed Pharmacist in Illinois required
  • Minimum of three years management experience within a hospital pharmacy preferred
  • Prior experience with Omnicell automation highly desired
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills and basic financial knowledge to maintain pharmacy operations effectively
  • Previous psychiatric behavioral hospital experience is advantageous

Schedule & Location:

  • Coverage from August 17th until permanent placement is secured
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, plus on-call coverage 7 days a week
  • Weekend coverage provided by part-time pharmacist
  • Located in New Lenox, IL, with the nearest airport at ORD for easy travel access

This is an excellent contract leadership role for a pharmacy director eager to work in a specialized psychiatric setting with a small, focused team. Onsite training is available to ensure success in this critical position.
