LTC Mail Order Staff Pharmacist - Dayton, Nevada
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This role offers an opportunity to provide expert pharmaceutical care within a long-term care mail order environment. The position involves managing prescriptions, counseling patients, and collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective medication use.
Location: Dayton, NV
Job Type: Contract (8 weeks)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Shift options: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM or 12:30 PM – 9:00 PM
- Rotating every other Saturday
Responsibilities:
- Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal requirements.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and identify any over-usage issues.
- Ensure prescribed medicines are appropriate for patients' conditions.
- Maintain confidential, accurate records of patient information and pharmacy transactions.
- Counsel patients on medication usage, possible side effects, and answer related questions.
- Provide consultation on both prescription and non-prescription medications concerning dosage, storage, and drug interactions.
- Deliver patient services including smoking cessation support, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the correct use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following strict protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
- Maintain adequate inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Identify drug-related problems and communicate findings with physicians and healthcare team members.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and pharmacy interns.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
- Nevada Pharmacy license mandatory
- Experience in Long-Term Care environments preferred
