This opportunity offers a key leadership role overseeing pharmacy operations in a specialized psychiatric hospital setting. The position requires hands-on management and accountability for maintaining smooth pharmacy functions during a transitional period.

Location:
New Lenox, IL (Aurora area)

Schedule & Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • On-call coverage 7 days a week (weekends covered by part-time pharmacist)

Role Overview:
Serving as Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC), you will be responsible for daily management and operational oversight of the pharmacy. The facility specializes in behavioral health and psychiatric care, supporting a team comprising one part-time pharmacist and one pharmacy technician. This contract position begins mid-August and will continue until a permanent candidate is hired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead staffing, scheduling, and pharmacy team coordination
  • Conduct and participate in meetings to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
  • Maintain pharmacy operations with strong communication and financial oversight
  • Oversee Omnicell automation system operations; order entry system proficiency (training provided)
  • Manage pharmacy workflow without sterile compounding duties
  • Provide regular progress updates via email and monthly one-on-one meetings with the account manager

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Illinois Pharmacist license required
  • Minimum 3 years of pharmacy management experience, preferably in a hospital or behavioral health setting
  • Experience with Omnicell automation is highly preferred
  • Strong communication skills and basic financial knowledge essential
