What You’ll Do:
- Deliver effective and accurate sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, school activities, field trips, assemblies, and additional educational experiences.
- Enable seamless communication between students and school personnel, enhancing access to both the curriculum and the broader school environment.
- Adapt your interpreting style to meet individual communication needs and developmental levels of students.
- Work alongside teachers, special education teams, and related service providers to support students’ educational and communication requirements.
- Take part in IEP meetings, staff discussions, and other relevant gatherings where your interpreting expertise is required.
- Maintain confidentiality with all student-related information and records.
- Uphold professional standards and adhere to all school district guidelines.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting within educational settings.
- VQAS Level III certification, EIPA Written Test, and minimum 3.5 EIPA Performance Test score, or equivalent credentials.
- Previous experience as a K-12 educational interpreter strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Effective communicator and collaborator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary education or interpreter training preferred.
