Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students in the Birmingham, Alabama area for the upcoming school year. From August 7 to June 10, you’ll provide essential speech-language pathology services in an onsite setting, working closely with children and adolescents with a range of needs. Caseloads and specific assignments will be tailored based on district requirements and locations, offering both variety and meaningful impact.

This position calls for expertise in educational law, pediatric and adolescent development, and assessment strategies for students with disabilities. You’ll be a key advocate for students’ communication needs, contributing to multidisciplinary teams and helping learners reach their full potential.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Valid Professional Educator Certification
  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders from a regionally accredited college or university
  • ASHA Certification and ABSESPA Licensure (preferred)
  • Deep understanding of regulations and best practices in the education of students with disabilities
  • Knowledge of physical and cognitive development, as well as diagnostic instruments for children with disabilities
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to analyze data and interpret relevant laws and policies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct speech-language services to students on-site
  • Conduct assessments and contribute to development/implementation of IEPs
  • Document progress and maintain detailed records according to federal and state regulations
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to ensure holistic support for each student
  • Stay current on best practices and legal updates relevant to the field
