Job Description
Energize your career as a substitute paraprofessional, supporting students in a dynamic educational environment for the 2026-2027 school year! This contract role provides hands-on experience helping school-aged children succeed in and outside the classroom. On a per diem schedule (6.5 hours/day), you’ll step in to provide continuity for students and staff during contractor call outs, fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere.
Key Qualifications:
- Two years of college credits from an accredited institution, an associate degree or higher, or a passing score on an approved academic assessment (such as ParaPro, ParaPathways, or The Master Teacher), or meeting competencies from the MDE-approved grid.
- PCA certificate, or willingness to obtain (free, under an hour to complete).
- At least one year of professional experience working with school-aged children (school-based experience highly valued).
- A strong collaborative spirit and flexibility to adapt to varying classroom needs.
- Experience supporting students with special needs is a plus.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as an essential substitute paraprofessional, stepping in as needed to provide direct support to students and classroom teachers.
- Assist students with academic, emotional, and behavioral needs in a respectful and encouraging way.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Collaborate with educators and other school staff to deliver cohesive and effective support services.
