Pharmacist | West Chester, Pennsylvania

A leading academic medical center in Philadelphia seeks a skilled pharmacist for a critical 3 to 6-month contract assignment. This role demands a committed professional who can confidently work in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment serving an underserved urban community. The pharmacist will provide comprehensive medication management, ensuring safe and effective pharmacotherapy aligned with hospital protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and verify medication orders from physicians and extenders, ensuring appropriate drug, dose, frequency, and route.
• Assess patient allergies, medical history, drug interactions, and lab data to prevent clinical conflicts.
• Dispense medications accurately, maintain inventory control, and provide drug information to healthcare team members.
• Supervise pharmacy students and technicians in medication preparation to uphold safety and accuracy standards.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on care planning and discharge coordination.
• Follow medication safety and quality assurance protocols rigorously, including reporting and managing errors or high-dose responses.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Active Pennsylvania Pharmacist License in good standing.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred.
• Minimum of one year hospital experience or equivalent Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience.
• Proficiency with EPIC Dispense Prep and EPIC camera verification system highly preferred; candidates should be adaptable and demonstrate quick learning ability if not previously using these specific tools.
• Experience in sterile compounding and IV room processes required.
• Basic Life Support certification preferred.

Schedule:

• AM Shift, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Five 8-hour shifts, totaling 40 hours per week.
