Long Term Care Staff Pharmacist in Valencia, PA
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Long Term Care Pharmacist is needed for a contract assignment located in Valencia, PA. This role involves working with skilled nursing facilities, personal care facilities, and hospice settings to ensure accurate medication dispensing and excellent patient care. The position offers a 1-month ongoing contract with the possibility of extension and consideration for an 8-week term.
Work Schedule:
- 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday: 8am – 6pm
- Saturday: 8am – 4pm
- Sunday: 8am – 3pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify medication orders entered by data entry technicians for long-term care and hospice patients
- Check blister-packed, sterile, and non-sterile medications for accuracy and compliance
- Respond to phone inquiries from nursing facilities, hospice nurses, and physicians, providing clinical guidance
- Count and document controlled substances accurately in the perpetual inventory
- Inspect emergency medication boxes regularly to ensure readiness
- Utilize pharmacy operating systems such as QS1, Docutrack, and PCC for workflow management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required
- Active and valid pharmacist license in Pennsylvania, in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacist experience, with preference for long term care background
- Physical ability to sit, stand, perform fine motor tasks, maintain visual acuity, and lift up to 30 pounds
