Location: St Mellons, Cardiff

Salary: Up to £31,000 per annum (DOE)

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Working Pattern: Hybrid – Office-based during probation, then 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home following successful completion of probation.

The role offers a varied workload, combining end-to-end payroll responsibilities with finance administration, client account management and reconciliations. Key Responsibilities to include

    \n
  • Process end-to-end payrolls accurately and within strict deadlines.
  • \n
  • Maintain and update payroll records, ensuring all employee and information is accurate.
  • \n
  • Process starters, leavers, amendments, deductions and statutory payments.
  • \n
  • Complete payroll reconciliations, including PAYE, National Insurance and year-end processes.
  • \n
  • Prepare statutory payroll documentation and submissions.
  • \n
  • Manage client bank accounts, cashbooks and BACS payment runs.
  • \n
  • Carry out bank reconciliations and monitor cash movements.
  • \n
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate payroll and financial records.
  • \n
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from clients and stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
  • \n
  • Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies where required.
  • \n
  • Support the wider finance function with purchase invoices, customer invoicing and other finance administration.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, company procedures and data protection requirements.
  • \n
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and maintain excellent levels of accuracy and efficiency.

About You

\n

We're looking for someone who has:

\n
    \n
  • Previous experience processing end-to-end payroll.
  • \n
  • A strong understanding of PAYE, National Insurance and payroll legislation.
  • \n
  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • \n
  • Experience of payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • \n
  • The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively within a team.
  • \n
  • Payroll qualifications (such as CIPP) would be advantageous but are not essential.
  • \n
