Location: Greenock Ocean TerminalSalary: Up to £49,955.31 + excellent benefitsShift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (12-hour shifts, days and nights)

MRD Recruitment is working on behalf of our client to recruit an experienced Industrial Electrician for a permanent opportunity based at Greenock Ocean Terminal.

\n

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for maintaining critical port infrastructure and heavy industrial equipment, including state-of-the-art Ship to Shore Container Cranes. The role offers excellent training, long-term career development and the opportunity to work on a wide range of complex electrical systems in a safety-critical environment.

The opportunity\n

As an Approved Electrician, you'll carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive electrical repairs, ensuring plant and equipment remain safe, compliant and fully operational.

\n

You'll play a key role in fault diagnosis, equipment reliability and continuous improvement, while developing your skills towards becoming an Authorised Person for both HV and LV electrical systems.

    Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across heavy plant and industrial equipment

  • \n
  • \n

    Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults using specialist testing and diagnostic equipment

  • \n
  • \n

    Responding quickly to equipment failures to minimise operational downtime

  • \n
  • \n

    Ensuring electrical systems comply with current legislation and safety standards

  • \n
  • \n

    Supporting the reliability and performance of critical operational equipment

  • \n
  • \n

    Working safely within permit-to-work systems and electrical safety procedures

  • \n
  • \n

    Contributing to continuous improvement and engineering best practice

  • \n
  • \n

    Developing multi-skilled mechanical and electrical engineering capabilities

  • \n
What we're looking for\n

We're looking for a time-served Electrician with experience maintaining heavy industrial plant, machinery or complex electrical systems.

\n

You should have:

\n
    \n
  • \n

    Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills

  • \n
  • \n

    Experience using electrical testing and fault-finding equipment

  • \n
  • \n

    Experience working in a busy, safety-critical industrial environment

  • \n
  • \n

    A good understanding of safe systems of work and health & safety procedures

  • \n
  • \n

    A willingness to work at heights when required

  • \n
Desirable experience\n
    \n
  • \n

    High Voltage (HV) systems

  • \n
  • \n

    Three-phase electrical systems

  • \n
  • \n

    Experience within ports, heavy industry, manufacturing, processing or similar industrial environments

  • \n
\n

Occasional travel to other sites within the local operational area may be required.
