\nAbout the Role
\nOur local authority clients Private Housing Services (PHS) team currently has a backlog of approximately 1,600 licence applications which must be processed ahead of a major system migration project. To support this work, we are recruiting five Temporary Processing Officers to join the team on a full-time basis.
\nThe successful candidates will play a key role in helping clear the backlog while supporting the ongoing administration and processing of private property licensing applications. You will work within the framework of relevant legislation, including the Housing Act 2004, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality housing services for residents, landlords and stakeholders across the borough.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Process private property licence applications accurately and efficiently. \n
- Support the administration of Brent's private property licensing schemes. \n
- Maintain accurate records and update licensing databases and systems. \n
- Respond to enquiries from landlords, tenants and other stakeholders. \n
- Provide advice and guidance regarding licensing requirements. \n
- Draft correspondence, emails and letters as required. \n
- Carry out data entry and data management activities, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. \n
- Assist with statutory, technical and administrative functions within Private Housing Services. \n
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to deliver service objectives. \n
- Contribute to achieving team targets and service performance standards. \n
- Support enforcement and licensing activities where required. \n
Job Purpose
\nThis role will deliver statutory, technical and administrative services that contribute to the overall functions of Brent's Private Housing Services. The post holder will principally assist in the operation of private property licensing schemes and enforcement activities, ensuring private rented properties are appropriately licensed and that landlords and tenants receive accurate advice and support.
\nThe successful candidate will build effective internal and external relationships and contribute positively to a high-performing team while working within Council policies, procedures and the Community Wellbeing Framework.
\nEssential Requirements
\nKnowledge & Qualifications

- Minimum secondary education with a good standard of literacy and numeracy. \n
- Strong IT skills, including the use of email systems, internet applications and Microsoft Office packages. \n
- Good awareness of local authority responsibilities. \n
- Good awareness of housing needs and housing-related issues. \n
What We're Looking For
\nWe are seeking organised, customer-focused individuals with excellent attention to detail and strong local authority/housing administrative skills. Previous experience in housing, licensing, local government or regulatory services would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
