Sourcing and Procurement Specialist
Job Description
Jackson Hogg Procurement division are pleased to be partnering with a leading, global manufacturing organisation in Gateshead on the appointment of a Procurement and Sourcing Specialist to join their Procurement team.
\nThis is a full-time and permanent role offering a highly-competitive salary and excellent benefits. This role works a 37.5 hour working week with flexibility of start times between 7-8am and offers an early Friday finish. Hybrid working of 1 day per week WFH is available after an initial training period.
\nOther benefits include: 25 days holiday + bank holidays, buy/sell up to 5 days holiday, pension 7% EE and 10% ER contribution, option to buy shares, bonus scheme paid annually and subsidised meals.
\n\nThe Role:
\n- \n
- Define and implement Category/Commodity Strategies to minimize risk, reduce costs, and ensure best value continuity of supply. Includes spend aggregation, and supplier consolidation, rationalization, and segmentation \n
- Negotiate Strategic Agreements that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions. \n
- Focal point within the assigned Category for supplier performance risk escalation \n
- Leverage and manage supplier relationships to create a competitive advantage. Works with suppliers on Continuous Improvement and cost reduction initiatives \n
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of market conditions and industry trends related to assigned Category \n
- Identifies and develops alternate sources of supply \n
- Conducts supplier site visits and evaluates capabilities \n
- Applies Continuous Improvement techniques to internal procurement processes and systems to increase efficiency and reduce costs \n
- Ensures all key stakeholders are actively involved in the solicitation, negotiation, and award process. \n
- Actively participates in High Performance Teams to improve value stream performance \n
The Person/Requirements:
\n- \n
- Bachelor’s Degree (4 Year) or equivalent in Supply Chain or Operations Management, Business, Engineering or Other \n
- CIPS qualified preferred but not essential \n
- Minimum of 4-6 years applicable experience in procurement \n
- Analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities \n
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Programs \n
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts \n
- Understanding of lean enterprise principles and practices \n
- Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results and meeting objectives \n
- Ability to build trust and demonstrate a high level of integrity \n
- Strong organisational and planning skills \n
