Pre-Construction Quantity Surveyor

POSITION SUMMARY
\nJoin one of Scotland’s leading construction and manufacturing businesses and play a key role in delivering affordable housing and private residential developments across the country. With a strong pipeline of projects, we are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our Pre-Construction team at our Cambuslang head office.

\nThe Role
\nWorking within our Pre-Construction team, you will be responsible for the cost planning of projects during the pre-construction period, drawing on information from our supply chain, our in-house divisions and external consultants.

- Preparation of costs plans, including measurement and quantification. \n
- Obtain budget cost information from key subcontractors. \n
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to develop accurate cost plans. \n
- Coordinate with external consultants to inform and develop cost plans. \n
- Management and recording of all third-party pre-construction costs. \n
- Preparing and issuing consultant designer appointments. \n
- Preparing and issuing pre-construction valuations to clients. \n
- Contribute to value engineering exercises and buildability reviews with design, technical and site teams to deliver best value for the client. \n
- Maintain and develop cost database. \n
Skills
\n- \n
- A degree in Quantity Surveying. \n
- Approximately 3 to 5 year’s post-qualification experience with a main contractor, developer or consultancy. \n
- Demonstrable measurement, quantification and cost panning ability; pre-construction experience is a distinct advantage. \n
- Sound knowledge of construction methods and standard forms of contract. \n
- Confident use of Microsoft Excel and measurement software; the ability to take off from digital drawings. \n
- Strong commercial judgement, numeracy and attention to detail, with the discipline to work to programme deadlines. \n
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, and the confidence to deal directly with clients, consultants and the supply chain. \n
