Senior Quantity Surveyor London/Remote

Winsearch UK is proud to partner with a well-established specialist roofing, cladding and building envelope contractor. They are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

My client is well-established and delivers roofing, waterproofing and cladding projects nationwide across new build and refurbishment schemes. They are widely recognised in the market for technical support, workmanship and long-standing client relationships.

The role

This is a Senior Quantity Surveyor position with a mixture of remote working and site visits. You’ll be commercially responsible for multiple projects, working closely with the Commercial Director, project teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to make sure works are delivered profitably and contractually in line with expectations.

This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys being involved across the full commercial lifecycle, from procurement and tender strategy through to variations, valuations, reporting and final accounts.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing the commercial performance of multiple roofing / envelope projects
\n
• Preparing and agreeing commercial strategies from tender stage through to site delivery
\n
• Managing subcontract procurement, negotiation and appointment
\n
• Preparing and managing ITTs and subcontract packages
\n
• Reviewing contract issues, risks and opportunities
\n
• Managing valuations, variations, compensation events and change control
\n
• Producing commercial reports, forecasts and cost analysis
\n
• Supporting dispute avoidance and protecting the commercial position of projects
\n
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors, consultants and internal project teams
\n
• Working closely with operational teams to challenge and support project delivery
\n
• Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff where required
\n
• Ensuring commercial records and documentation are accurate and up to date
\n

What they're looking for

• Strong experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor
\n
• Background working for a main contractor or specialist subcontractor
\n
• Experience managing multiple projects at once
\n
• Good understanding of NEC/JCT contracts
\n
• Experience with subcontract procurement and commercial negotiation
\n
• Strong knowledge of valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts
\n
• Ability to challenge cost build-ups, subcontractor pricing and commercial assumptions
\n
• Comfortable working with project teams, clients and supply chain partners
\n
• Roofing, cladding, waterproofing or building envelope experience would be ideal
\n

This role would suit someone commercially sharp, organised and confident managing their own workload.

You’ll need to be hands-on with the detail while still being able to look at the bigger commercial picture across several projects. My client is looking for someone who can work with autonomy, communicate clearly and help keep projects commercially controlled from start to finish.
