Senior Bookkeeper - Independent Accountancy Practice High Wycombe | Hybrid (3-2) £30,000 - £45,000 DOE Butler Rose Public Practice is pleased to be supporting a friendly independent accountancy practice in High Wycombe in their search for an Experienced Bookkeeper to join their team and hit the ground running. This role would suit an experienced practice-based bookkeeper who enjoys bookkeeping and managing a varied workload. You'll play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of bookkeeping services, VAT queries and returns and some payroll duties, while working in a close-knit supportive team environment. Whether you enjoy being client-facing or in a hands-on technical role, this is for you as the company encourages autonomy of the service.

Key Responsibilities

\n
• Manage a varied portfolio of clients and act as main point on contract for bookkeeping and VAT queries.
\n
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations including bank, VAT, payroll, CIS, loans, and intercompany accounts
\n
• Double-entry bookkeeping
\n
• Process bills, expenses, supplier payments, and credit control
\n
• Prepare and review VAT returns
\n
• Payroll for a bank of clients in a wide variety of industries
\n
• Review work completed by junior team members
\n
• Assist with training and development of junior staff
\n

Key Requirements

\n
• ACCA Qualified or QBE (At a minimum, ACCAPQ)
\n
• Minimum 5 years' UK accountancy practice experience (Essential)
\n
• Strong VAT knowledge with confidence preparing and reviewing returns
\n
• Experience managing multiple clients and deadlines
\n
• Proficiency in Xero, Sage and QuickBooks experience advantageous
\n
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
\n
• Confident communicator with a client-focused approach
\n
• Enjoys problem-solving and supporting client needs
\n
