Role Overview

If you are a hands-on mechanical leader who wants real ownership of plant reliability and a team to develop, this role offers genuine scope on a site running critical process equipment.

An established manufacturing operator is looking for a Mechanical Technician Lead to oversee mechanical maintenance and drive safe, efficient operation across the site, with clear routes to grow within the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead inspection, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of mechanical equipment
\n
• Manage routine maintenance, testing and installation of new equipment
\n
• Oversee planned maintenance activity via the site's maintenance management systems
\n
• Maintain strict control of the Permit to Work system for the internal team and contractors
\n
• Engage and control contractors across civil, mechanical, instrument and electrical work
\n
• Maintain full records and documentation for all mechanical equipment
\n
• Supervise a maintenance team, including day and/or shift-based working patterns
\n
• Ensure safe working practices are upheld across all maintenance activity
\n

Requirements

\n
• Level 4 Apprenticeship (or equivalent trade experience) in Mechanical Engineering
\n
• Previous experience leading or supervising a maintenance team, either on days or a shift pattern
\n
• ATEX qualification and confidence working in explosive atmosphere environments, ideal
\n
• Experience in a manufacturing, engineering or scientific environment, preferred
\n
• A systematic, logical approach to problem-solving
\n
• Strong communication skills and a good command of English
\n
• Competence with MS Office and standard maintenance management systems, beneficial
\n
• Existing right to work in the UK (this role cannot offer visa sponsorship)
