Job Description

Our client designs a range of state-of-the-art solutions in electro-optic (Optronics) systems in support of land, sea and air forces.

We are recruiting for a Senior Electronics Engineer for a contract position based in Glasgow, this position offer hybrid working but will require 3 days per week on-site.

\n

This role is working on mixed signal electronics design and development. It will cover all aspects of the product lifecycle, from requirements through specification, concept studies, design and development, integration, validation and qualification.
\n Key responsibilities of the role

    \n
  • Undertake design of complex electronic circuit assemblies or architectures, from concept through to system integration & qualification
  • \n
  • Lead discussions with a multi-disciplinary team (systems, mechanical, software, safety, etc) to develop an optimum solution
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with the project team to ensure products meet all their requirements and comply with regulatory safety and environmental standards
  • \n
  • Contribute to the development of the wider electronics team, including mentoring junior members of staff, overseeing the implementation of improvements and reviewing the work of peers
  • \n
  • Generate electronics specifications, architectures, and development or verification plan
  • \n
  • Support the bid process through generation of estimates and consultancy on electronic solution
  • \n
  • Present robust engineering solutions at design reviews
  • \n
  • Monitor progress of work against cost, schedule and performance
  • \n

Key skills required

\n
    \n
  • Proven ability in electronic design throughout the design lifecycle
  • \n
  • Previous use of schematic capture packages (Cadence, Mentor Graphics or similar)
  • \n
  • Development of electronic products in a formal environment
  • \n
  • Testing at circuit board and system level (eg. board bring-up and debug, EMC)
  • \n
  • Preparation of sub-system requirements/procurement specs
  • \n
  • General understanding of engineering process and design lifecycles
  • \n
  • Mixed signal electronics design, both analogue & digital,
  • \n
  • Knowledge of Power, signal conditioning, video/camera interfaces,
  • \n

\n Additional
\n We seek an Electronics Engineer who has worked in a military / defence environment / industry within the last 12 months or who can obtain UK security clearance to SC level.
