Job Description
Our client, a prominent entity in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled Software Developer to join their team on a contract basis. This role is integral to enhancing and securing modern technology platforms, ensuring the protection of critical national infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:\n- \n
- Own and deliver engineering platform capabilities that facilitate building, testing, securing, and deploying services in a highly automated, CI/CD-driven environment. \n
- Design, implement, and evolve CI/CD pipelines, ensuring consistent, reliable, and repeatable delivery processes across multiple teams and services. \n
- Embed Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices to drive standardisation and scalability. \n
- Integrate security controls into engineering workflows, ensuring services are secure by design. \n
- Support and enable engineering teams by providing guidance, tooling, and best practices. \n
- Continuously optimise automation, identifying opportunities to remove repetitive manual tasks and improve the developer experience. \n
- Collaborate across development, security, and operations to promote end-to-end ownership of services. \n
- Maintain and improve engineering tooling and platforms, including source-code control systems, build systems, artifact repositories, and deployment frameworks. \n

- Proficiency in software application development using languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C++, or C#. \n
- Experience with database technologies (e.g., Elastic, MySQL, SQL*Server). \n
- Understanding of CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins) and source-code control (e.g., Git, GitOps). \n
- Knowledge of infrastructure management frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef). \n
- Familiarity with containerisation platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Helm). \n
- Experience with cloud-native platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). \n
- Ability to integrate security controls into engineering workflows. \n
- Understanding of software and system validation, and test principles. \n
