This role offers the opportunity to lead and inspire a team dedicated to providing therapeutic residential care for children and young people with complex social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Manage the overall operation of the residential childcare home, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering a therapeutic environment.
  • \n
  • Lead and develop a team of childcare professionals, promoting a culture of high standards, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • \n
  • Oversee the assessment of referrals and coordinate admissions and transition planning for new residents.
  • \n
  • Implement and maintain robust safeguarding, child protection, care planning, and welfare procedures.
  • \n
  • Conduct regular staff supervision, performance reviews, and identify training needs to ensure professional development.
  • \n
  • Manage budgets, resources, and staffing levels effectively, ensuring the home operates within financial targets and maintains high care standards.
  • \n
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, social work teams, and other external agencies to promote the best outcomes for children and young people.
  • \n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • SVQ Level 4/SCQF Level 9 in Children and Young People and Leadership & Management qualification, or equivalent that meets SSSC registration requirements.
  • \n
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in residential childcare, with at least 2 years in a management role.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, with strong leadership, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, caring, and child-centred approach.
  • \n
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively with regulatory bodies and partner agencies.
  • \n
  • Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
  • \n
