Shape the future.Sheridan Maine is hiring a Financial Controller for a successful UK manufacturing business. The business boasts a talented and ambitious leadership team, a strong blue-chip order book and, while benefiting from the backing of an established international parent, the UK operation enjoys significant autonomy, creating an environment where finance has a genuine voice in commercial decision-making. This is a Finance Number One role reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll be the senior finance leader for the UK business, partnering with colleagues across operations, sales and manufacturing to drive performance while ensuring the business continues to operate with robust financial governance, through the leadership and development of the finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to combine their commercial exposure with their technical expertise in one critical role.What You'll Be DoingAlongside leading the finance function, in this broad leadership role you'll work closely with senior stakeholders to provide insight that supports investment decisions, operational improvements and profitable growth. Your responsibilities will include:\n

  • Leading the UK finance function and supervising the IT team
  • \n
  • Accurate monthly management accounts
  • \n
  • Financial analysis and group submissions
  • \n
  • Budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning
  • \n
  • Commercial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions
  • \n
  • Manufacturing costing, margin reporting and performance analysis
  • \n
  • Investment appraisals
  • \n
  • Commercial pricing, appraisal of tenders, procurement contracts
  • \n
  • Cash flow, treasury and working capital (incl. credit management)
  • \n
  • Maintaining effective financial controls, compliance and governance.
  • \n
  • Audits, taxation and statutory reporting
  • \n
  • Payroll, pensions, insurances, etc.
  • \n
  • Company Secretarial duties
  • \n
Across all areas you'll be seeking opportunities to develop and enhance existing systems and processes, in the pursuit of optimum performance, so a keen eye for continuous improvement will be important.What We're Looking For\n

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA)
  • \n
  • Experience of driving performance in manufacturing environment
  • \n
  • An ideal background would include experience in both large/corporate and SME businesses
  • \n
  • Track record of technical excellence, either having led a finance function or trained in practice
  • \n
  • Ability to build trusted and influential relationships with senior stakeholders inside and outside the business
  • \n
  • Sharp commercial acumen and a track record in driving profitability
  • \n
