Job Description

Life Launch Direct Support Professionals (DSP-LL) provide supports to a variety of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to facilitate a safe, independent, and enriched lifestyle in their homes, places of employment, and communities. You may assist with building someone's community connections, health & safety needs, money management, everyday life necessities (shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc), and helping someone go out and have fun! DSP-LLs are excited to go to work, reliable, patient, and a great communicator. As a DSP-LL, you will walk in partnership with the people you support toward a life of opportunity, well-being, freedom, and contribution. All DSP-LLs must be able to drive their own vehicle at work and be reimbursed for mileage.\n

\nPosition Type: Part Time or Full Time flexible shifts available\n
\n
\nFridays and Saturdays are required, hours are generally days, evenings, nights, and weekends.\n
\nYour supervisor will work with you to create a schedule that works for you and the people you will be supporting.\n
\n
\nSkills and Qualifications:\n
\n
\nMust be at least 18 years of age when starting employment.\n
\nThis position requires a valid driver’s license and to drive your own vehicle and be reimbursed for non-commuting miles.\n
\nMust have and show basic computer skills and can learn agency applications.\n
\nExcellent interpersonal skills.\n
\nWell-organized and attentive to detail.\n
\nCooperative and willing to learn.\n
\nAbility to interpret various instructions.\n
\nEnhanced math skills – must be able to accurately balance a budget and basic math transactions.\n
\nProfessional, clear, and positive oral and written communication skills both expressive and receptive.\n
\nMust be able to read, write, and speak English.\n
\nPCL’s Team members must have dependable, reliable, and regular work attendance, and must adhere to attendance policies.\n
\n
\nJob Duties:\n
\n
\nHelping people get to the activities they want to go to, some examples are going swimming, watching movies, hiking, going to concerts, and so much more!\n
\nWorking one on one with a person providing intentional, individual supports.\n
\nPlan and follow through with fun activities to help people achieve their goals.\n
\nHelp someone build and maintain relationships while respecting their dignity, individual choice, input, and health and safety needs.\n
\nMay involve distributing medications, cooking, house cleaning, working through challenging behaviors, and intimate care.\n
\nMay provide On the Job Attendant Care (OTJAC) supports in a person's place of employment. OTJAC supports are health related supports for people who need attendant care but not assistance with their employment services.\n
\nSome examples of OTJAC supports are:\n
\nGuiding individuals to stay on task with job duties.\n
\nOffering aid during breaks and lunches.\n
\nProviding physical assistance in the restroom.\n
\n
\nPhysical Requirements:\n
\n
\nMust be able to lift and transfer 25 pounds minimum; some positions may require more.\n
\nAppropriately and efficiently responding to emergencies and/or crises (including but not limited to the use of physical intervention).\n
\n
\nCertifications and Training:\n
\n
\nMust pass required DHS background check and Protective Service Investigations.\n
\nMust be able to pass a drug screening for illegal substances in the state of Oregon.\n
\nComplete and maintain all certifications as required by the position, PCL, and other governing agencies.\n
\nMust be able to obtain and maintain certification to a satisfactory level in Oregon Intervention System (training provided if hired).\n
\nMust be able to obtain and maintain certification in CPR (training provided if hired).\n
\nComplete all duties related to being a Mandatory Abuse Reporter.\n
\nNew hire orientation and on-site training must be completed within 60 days of hire.\n
