UPPCO is hiring an Electric Distribution Lineworker in Munising, Michigan. In this position, you will work in a variety of hands-on tasks involving the construction, operation, maintenance, and dismantling of distribution and transmission lines across all voltage levels. \nWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.\n
\n
\nMust have completed a 4-year accredited or certified lineworker/electrician apprentice program and/or attained Journeyman lineworker/electrician status.\n
\nPossess thorough knowledge of all phases of electric distribution and transmission work procedures and safety rules, electric distribution standards, applicable state electric codes and statutes, and underground facilities and their purpose.\n
\nClass A CDL, or ability to obtain/maintain a valid Class A commercial driver’s license with air brake endorsements within 4 months of hire.\n
\nOperate heavy equipment such as tracked vehicles, trenchers and backhoes.\n
\nMust be reasonably available and responsive to after-hours and emergency callouts; ability to be on-call, carry a pager on a rotating basis, and/or work long hours and overtime as needed.\n
\nAbility to work outside with exposure to all types of weather conditions.\n
\nPosition involves heavy, physical work with frequent lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs.\n
\nAbility to work in high areas above ground level and with high voltage equipment.\n
\nAbility to trim trees, install meter equipment, perform streetlight work, locate underground facilities, and investigate load, voltage, and other customer complaint problems.\n
\nParticipate in safety meetings and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.\n
\nExcellent time management, organization and communication skills.\n
\nA positive, motivated attitude that works well with others and with little direct supervision.\n
\nWillingness to travel, as required.\n
\nMust reside within 30 road miles of the assigned work location.\n
