Job Overview

Under the supervision of the department head, the technologist will carry out a range of technical procedures that necessitate independent judgment, creativity, and initiative in the use of radionuclides for diagnosing and treating diseases in patients. The role involves adhering to safety regulations and maintaining cleanliness standards within the department, while also following hospital and nuclear medicine policies as well as NRC guidelines. An understanding of growth and development principles is essential to assess and meet the age-specific needs of each patient.

Qualifications

Required:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related discipline
• Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
• Experience in operating PET-CT and SPECT/SPECT CT imaging systems

Certifications and Licenses

• New Jersey Nuclear Medicine Technologist License
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
• Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)

Essential Functions

• Operate PET-CT and SPECT imaging equipment to generate high-quality diagnostic images
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients in accordance with established protocols
• Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and addressing any concerns
• Monitor patients during imaging to ensure their safety and comfort
• Ensure correct patient positioning for optimal imaging results
• Maintain and calibrate PET-CT equipment to ensure it functions properly
• Follow radiation safety protocols to protect both patients and staff
• Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret imaging results
• Document imaging procedures and maintain accurate patient records
• Assist in training and supervising junior technologists and students
• Stay informed about advancements in PET-CT technology and imaging techniques
• Perform other duties as assigned
