Compensation: $37.00 to $51.28 per hour

Location: Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME

Employment Type: Full-time | Night Shifts | 7 PM – 7 AM | 12-Hour Shifts

Key Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, patient-focused care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in a dynamic Emergency Department (ED). Duties include:

  • Providing direct patient care in the Emergency Department
  • Conducting rapid assessments, triage, and prioritizing care
  • Responding to acute changes, trauma, and life-threatening situations
  • Interpreting laboratory results, diagnostics, and patient symptoms
  • Communicating patient conditions with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
  • Administering medications, IV therapy, and emergency interventions
  • Educating patients and families regarding care and discharge instructions
  • Ensuring adherence to EMTALA, HIPAA, and patient safety regulations
  • Reporting suspected abuse or neglect in accordance with regulations
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation
Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Training:

  • Valid RN License in the state
  • Current BLS certification upon hire and ongoing maintenance
  • ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire and must be kept current
  • PALS certification and/or ENPC required within 30 days of hire and must be kept current
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation certification within 30 days of hire
  • At least one year of experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital; emergency room experience preferred
  • Certification as an Emergency Nurse (CEN) is preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred
Facility-Specific Requirements

Additional certifications may be required based on facility specifics:

  • If in a Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN certification within 12 months of hire and must be maintained
  • For EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric courses 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire
  • For non-OB facilities: NRP certification within 90 days of hire and must be maintained
  • Completion of the Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 12 months of hire is required
Compensation Transparency

Our organization offers competitive pay, with an estimated hourly rate ranging from $37.00 to $51.28. The specific starting salary will be determined upon hiring, taking into account various factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, and certifications.
