  3. Operating Hours: Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; closed on weekends.
Compensation Package Highlights:
  1. Initial Annual Salary: $550,000 - $600,000 for the first two years, plus a WRVU productivity model.
  2. Annual Salary: $650,000 for years three to five.
  3. Quality Bonus: Available.
  4. CME Allowance: $5,000.

Practice Overview:

Our organization is affiliated with a leading cancer center in Buffalo, NY. The hematology/oncology program will employ the physicians.

  1. Physicians typically see 15-18 patients per day (with the option to see more if desired).
  2. Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) manage around 10-12 patients daily.
  3. Physicians do not have patient responsibilities while rounding at the hospital.
  4. Average Daily Hospital Census: 20-30 patients.
  5. Office schedules and call loads are designed to be manageable and equitable.
  6. Average Patient Volume at Albany Clinic: 50-80 patients per day; Average Daily Infusion Visits: 30-38.
  7. Average Patient Volume at Troy Clinic: 40 patients per day; Average Daily Infusion Visits: 15-20.
  8. Nurses, APPs, and MDs may administer antineoplastic agents.
  9. MDs and APPs are responsible for intrathecal, intralesion, and intracavity administrations.
  10. Bone marrow and FNA biopsies are primarily conducted by Interventional Radiology.
  11. Nurses manage VAD catheters.
  12. Intrapleural therapies are provided in the inpatient setting.
  13. Collaborative clinical trials are being pursued with the cancer center.
  14. The Oncology Service Line consists of approximately 80% oncology and 20% benign hematology.
  15. The Oncology Services Line is transitioning to a 1:1 MD:APP model.
Patient Demographics:
  1. Patients from all socio-economic backgrounds.
  2. Age range includes Geriatric to Young Adult (no pediatrics).
  3. High volumes of pancreatic, breast, colon, and urology cases.
  4. Lower volumes of melanoma and renal cases.
  5. Physicians have access to most specialties within the organization (Thoracic, GI, H&N, and GU).
  6. The GI group operates privately but collaborates effectively with the Oncology Service Line.
  7. The Oncology Service Line does not manage acute leukemias.
  8. Currently, there is no BMT/TCT program within the Oncology Service Line.

*The Oncology Services Line has dedicated APPs for both inpatient and outpatient services.

Support Staff:
  1. Our Nursing team achieved Magnet designation in 2022.
  2. Each physician is assigned a Primary Nurse to handle triage calls and paperwork.
  3. Dedicated Nurses are available in both Albany and Troy clinics to assist with patient management.

**Four full-time Pharmacists are available to assist with chemotherapy-related questions and are very approachable.

Call Responsibilities:
  1. 1:5 schedule for inpatient consult/call responsibilities.
  2. Future goal is a 1:7 schedule.
  3. Consult Service: Hospitalists admit patients, and dedicated inpatient APPs manage care.
  4. After-hours Call Responsibility: Monday - Thursday every five weeks.
  5. Weekend Call Responsibility: Friday - Sunday every five weeks.
  6. EMR: EPIC.

Tumor Boards: GU, GI, Breast, Thoracic, General.

***Virtual access to specialized Tumor Boards at the cancer center.

Qualifications:
  1. Must possess Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Medical Oncology and Hematology, or be in the process of obtaining it.
  2. Demonstrates a commitment to patient-centered care and a desire to work collaboratively within a team.
  3. Exhibits exceptional interpersonal skills alongside strong clinical abilities.
  4. Shows enthusiasm and motivation to deliver the highest quality of care and outcomes.
