Our organization is seeking a Vascular Surgeon to become part of our dedicated team at the Louis A Johnson Clarksburg VAMC. Duties & Responsibilities:- Perform open and endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) surgical repairs.
- Conduct dialysis access procedures.
- Engage in diagnostic and interventional angiography, including mesenteric and peripheral vascular work.
- Execute lower extremity bypass surgeries.
- Carry out open and endovascular carotid surgeries.
- Supervise and teach surgical residents.
- Provide consultations in outpatient clinics and on inpatient wards.
- Oversee initial evaluations, comprehensive workups, history and physical examinations, and admissions for vascular surgery patients as necessary.
- Participate in various committees.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, with potential adjustments based on service or medical center needs. On-call duties may be required.

- EDRP Authorized: This role qualifies for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers student loan repayment assistance. Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amounts (up to $200,000), and eligibility periods (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after a thorough review of the application.
- Compensation: Competitive salary ranging from $300K to $400K, along with an annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.
- Paid Time Off: 50–55 days of annual paid time off, including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and a potential 5-day paid absence for CME.
- Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and a federal 401K with contributions up to 5% from the VA.
- Insurance: Comprehensive federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many federal programs can be continued into retirement).
- Licensure: Must hold one full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
- CME: Possible reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time and board certified).
- Malpractice: Liability protection with tail coverage provided at no cost.
- Contract: No Physician Employment Contract required.
Contract Buyout Program: This position may qualify for the Physician Contract Buyout Program, which allows the VHA to buy out service contracts (including locum agreements, loan repayments, and sign-on bonuses) in exchange for employment at specific rural or highly rural facilities for a minimum obligated service period of four years.
