Position Overview:
This role involves providing patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician, while adhering to the limits of your professional license.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in evaluating patients and ensure their overall well-being.
- Administer medications and monitor patients for any adverse reactions to treatments.
- Conduct laboratory tests and provide therapeutic services.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, including self-care after discharge, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow-up care.
- Document patient encounters as directed by the provider, including diagnoses, symptoms, discharge instructions, and prescriptions.
- Transcribe orders for laboratory tests, radiology, and medications, ensuring patient charts are updated with results from labs, x-rays, or other evaluations. Monitor the availability of data to support timely treatment decisions.
- Record consultations or discussions with family members and/or the patient’s private physician or on-call physician.
- Maintain a state of alertness and safety at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program or possess equivalent educational qualifications for licensing.
- No prior experience is necessary.
- Regularly use speech for effective oral communication.
- Frequent standing and walking are required.
- Occasionally lift, carry, and push/pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
- Regularly engage in sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
- Frequent visual acuity for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, including color differentiation.
- Regularly utilize the sense of smell to identify odors.
- Frequently use hearing to receive verbal communication and detect alarms or machinery issues.
- Occasionally lift and move objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasionally assist in lifting or moving patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
- Occasional driving may be required.
- Rarely engage in crawling or running.

- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
